It is July and the West Coast Fire Season is nigh. Everyone in the Reno area is well aware of the worsening fires in the Sierras and the effects they have on the region. Destroyed and endangered homes, loss of precious forests, and smoke that severely impacts our daily lives and health across the region.
Fire Chief Ryan Sommers of the North Lake Tahoe Fire Protection District joined the podcast this week to talk about fire season and the work he and other firefighters do to prepare and respond, the challenges they face, how the various departments work together, communicating with the public in emergencies, how people can help when a fire breaks out, and much more.
Thank you so much for listening! I'll be back with new episodes in September and would love to know who you'd like to hear as a guest on the show. Send me an email at conor@renoites.com to get in touch.
If you enjoy this podcast, I'd love for you to sign up at the "Tip Jar" level on my Patreon. It's a great way to automatically send about a buck an episode to personally encourage me onwards. It's very easy to sign up. I'm grateful for every cent.
Next week, I have a BONUS episode, recorded live at Black Rabbit Meads recently with my guest Nick Rogers, co-founder of Bass Camp Music Festival. This is the first in a series of live episode tapings in collaboration with the 4th Street Art Project. Follow me on Instagram to see when we record next! https://www.instagram.com/renoites/
